I started Profit Chain because I have a passion for helping entrepreneurs and small businesses grow and succeed.  Whether it’s organic growth, or growth through acquisitions, or just simply turning around an underperforming operation – I find satisfaction in achieving tangible results that enable businesses to become more successful.  I also love building engaged teams that are empowered to achieve extraordinary results. One of the most fulfilling parts of my career has been mentoring young executives and helping them achieve their full potential.

The most rewarding part of my professional career has been the ability to provide sustainable solutions, either in my capacity as an organizational leader or in a consulting role. For me the ultimate motivator is providing others with the training, insight and tools that allows them to create an environment of collaborative effort and positive outcomes.  If you have ever participated in organized sports, you realize very quickly that the outcomes are products of the teams - and collaborative teams are successful teams. I have always considered supply chain one of the most essential and complex team sports you can be a part of.

ABOUT CHUCK

For over two decades, Chuck has been recognized for creating successful teams with iconic and global retailers such as The Home Depot, Kohl’s and Macy’s as well as a successful consulting role with a focus on retail.

EXAMPLES OF HIS WORK INCLUDE:

  • Supply Chain Assessment – Soft Goods Retailer

    • A supply chain transformation which involved a thorough evaluation of the client’s supply chain including an area-by-area gap analysis of vendor relations, transportation network, imports, distribution infrastructure, inventory and replenishment management, metrics creation and systems implementation.

The goal of the engagement was the construction of a best-in-class supply chain based upon the existing systems and physical infrastructure. Key activities include the closure of a single 3PL distribution facility and a complete system upgrade/implementation for two new facilities (green field) and one existing center.

    • PROJECT OUTCOME:

      • Reduction of lead time and lead time variances of 35%

      • Inventory reductions of 14% or approximately $24,000,000 while maintaining a service level in excess of 98%

      • Savings in excess of $1,000,000 due to the establishment of importer of record

      • A 50% reduction in purchase order creation and a similar reduction in back office support staff

      • Approximately $1,400,000 in savings based on a $20,000,000 transportation budget.

      • One facility closure and three facility startup/implementations

  • Warehouse and Systems Consolidation – Fragrance Retailer

    • Assignment focused on the design and testing of warehouse modifications required by the merger of three separate operating companies specializing in the sale and distribution of fragrances and related beauty products via retail, wholesale and eCommerce channels. Based on business requirements identified by the client it was essential that the three operations be consolidated and integrated into a single consolidated warehouse facility. The system was reorganized and integrated to operate on a single platform using a standard warehouse system while maintaining original user legacy functional screens.

    • PROJECT OUTCOME:

      • A total reduction in variable distribution costs of $1,500,000 due to the closure of a 200,000 sqft regional facility.
